It’s easy to give advice but so hard to take it. I’ve been giving myself some advice lately, and I’ve been amazed at the barriers I’ve thrown up.

Are we ever ready to listen and “hear”? Do we “take” advice at all?

Friends may be totally tired of our story, but sometimes it just feels better to talk. We need a shining new insight; patience, support and even humor.  If a kick in the pants is required, it’s best done with a show of affection rather than judgmental disgust. It’s not that we don’t want the situation to change; we just don’t want to be the one to have to change it … yet.

What makes us turn that corner? I have a friend who complained about her weight for some 20 years and, then, one morning went at it. Six months later 65 lbs are gone, and she’s getting thinner every day. I have another who talked about moving for more years than you can imagine, made up her mind and was gone several weeks later. My thing was to create this website. I pondered, stopped, dallied and, then, woke up raring to go.

We knew we were ready. What happened? None of us can really tell you.
