A A A

Text Size

For some reason a lot of web designers love tiny letters. Luckily the folks that make web browsers (and some web sites-like snoety.com) know that some of us see better than others. That’s why if you want larger type on a website you’re viewing, you can usually do something about it.

Web Site Controls

If you look towards the top upper right of this page, you’ll see three A’s in a row. These A’s allow you to change the type size on the page you’re viewing to a size that’s more comfortable for you. The first A is generally the one you see when the website first appears; the next two are, literally, big and biggest. When you select and click on the A of your choice, the website page will configure to the size you choose. You can do this on each and every web page where those 3 A’s are visible to you.

Browser Controls
Not all sites include these controls to re-size the text on the page. But even if you don’t see the three As, the web browser (like Internet Explorer) you’re using can help.

Windows – Internet Explorer: If you’re using a PC you’re probably using Internet Explorer to surf the web. To change the text size in Internet Explorer, select the View menu, then Text Size, then choose the size you’d like to use.

Windows – Firefox: If you’re using Firefox (a great browser) then the process is the same: just choose Text Size from the View Menu and choose the size you’d like. Firefox also provides a keyboard shortcut. Hold down the control [CTRL] key and then press the plus [+] or minus [-] key to make the text bigger or smaller.

Mac – Safari: On the Mac, using Safari select “Make text bigger” from the view menu.

This tip should work on most web sites. So, put away your glasses and surf!
