Francine Talks: When the kids can’t be home for the holidays

Not fun, right? Not fun for you anyways. They’re in Tibet or Seville or Paris. Find a way to include them.

If possible, exchange some gift — any gift — by mail and arrange a phone call to open each other’s gifts while on the line. Even a pre-arranged holiday greeting — passing the phone around to everyone in the room — will make it feel as if your wanderer is home for the holiday — at least for a while.
