Some of you expressed an interest in what my son looked like (and acted like) after he got the haircut referred to in On Harriett’s Mind: “Does the hair thing apply to men, too…”
My son met his challenge to shave his head if he could raise $1000 for one of his favorite charities at beextraordinary.com, and he also seems to be serious about, well, getting serious. Witness my son’s new hairdo, the result of his head shaving adventure — courtesy of, what can I say, the world’s most fabulous hair stylist/colorist (in temperament and in enormous talent) — Mario Diab and his amazing staff.
The WASH
The DETANGLE
The CUTS (hmmm – could have stopped here!)
The from/to final SHAVE(commitment honored)
Forgive the gross nose/eye enhancing close-up. He really looks much better than this.
Ready for a change for your man or for yourself, I’m really plugging Mario (Bobbi Brown has him writing chapters on hair in her books, and, of course, she uses him herself): www.mariodiab.com, 212 226 6595.)
I promise you a delightful, relaxing and, truly, “beautiful” experience.

Bravo for his fundraising, but why do you need “the world’s most fabulous hair stylist/colorist” to shave a head?
Oh … you’ve never seen a Mario Diab shaved head?!?! If you had, you’d know the difference.
I heard about Mario while attending a seminar given by Bobbi Brown. He was just opening the salon in Soho and I was among his first clients. He is truly a genius when it comes to color (I have the most flattering and oft-commented-on highlights). He’s amazingly fast and the results last and last and last…..
He guided me to a new haircut based on his assessment of my features, age and tolerance for upkeep. No matter how long I go between haircuts (forgive me, Mario) it always grows out to be something wonderful. My daughter and I are forever-Mario followers. He’s so low-key and self-effacing. How often do you find that in the world of hairdressers? I wish just wish I could convince more of my friends to go “downtown” for the world’s best hair experience. Sincerely, Martha Nichols
Martha,
Thanks for the comment. I couldn’t agree more. Mario’s the best!
