In planning a new project or a renovation, abandon all preconceived ideas and search for creative alternatives. Search out ideas from design magazines, design catalogues and the internet for the resources available.
Most budgets are under-estimated, so add a contingency of at least 20% and plan to edit your dreams as you plan and build. You can add more easily than subtract. Plan for less — but plan — as you can add in the years to come.
